Who We Are
Birthright Israel Foundation of Canada is Canada's premier organization dedicated to sending Jewish young adults on transformative educational trips to Israel. We raise funds to ensure that the gift of Birthright Israel is available to more and more Canadian Jewish young adults — especially the less connected — today and for years to come.
As an independent, Canadian-registered charity, we work to strengthen Jewish identity, build vibrant communities, and deepen connections to Israel for the next generation of Canadian Jews.
A Journey Rooted in Vision
Birthright Israel was founded with a bold vision — to ignite a spark and connect Jewish young adults in the Diaspora to the land and people of Israel, as well as to their peers and their community.
Since its inception, Birthright Israel has brought 950,000 Jewish young adults to Israel from 70 countries, including 50,000 Canadians.
Today, Birthright Israel is the premier identity-building experience for young Jews worldwide. Longitudinal research has consistently demonstrated its long-term impact on participants relating to Jewish identity and connection to Israel.
Birthright Israel Foundation of Canada was incorporated in March 2001 and began actively fundraising in 2003. Our mission is to build and expand financial support to ensure this transformative gift remains available to Canadian Jewish young adults for generations to come.
The staying-power of the Birthright Israel brand is evident not only through ongoing research and evaluation, but also by the fact that we are now welcoming second generation participants — young adults with one or two parents who are among our alumni.
